How does this image demonstrate texture? What is texture? Why texture important in artwork? In order to receive your scratchboard, you need to have a sketch approved by the teacher. You only get 1 scratchboard! End of 6 week block: April 8th (Friday), make sure you check 1C for missing work. Upcoming: Empty Bowls April 13 @ 5:30 pm, East High Foyer Empty Bowls Event (Before the start of the POP Show) Location: East Main Foyer Time: (Food- 5:30-7:00pm) Silent Auction bidding closes at 7:00pm Suggested Donation: $15 Includes a meal and a bowl made by East students (Every dollar feeds 4 people) Proceeds from this evening will benefit Food Bank of the Rockies and the East High Angel Pack program. Project Planning Day Complete 4 thumbnail sketches in sketchbook What is going to be the main subject for your artwork? How does this image demonstrate texture? In order to receive your scratchboard, you need to have a sketch approved by the teacher. You only get 1 scratchboard! End of 6 week block: Friday make sure you check 1C for missing work. All students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the subtractive drawing method,texture, and value, while completing an animal scratchboard assignment.
1 day challenge! Select an eye and recreate the eye on a scratchboard square. The process will be opposite of how you would normal draw. You will be pulling out highlights. Do not outline everything! Students will demonstrate knowledge of watercolor techniques and texture through the creation of a watercolor mixed-media painting showing 4 different textures and 4 different watercolor techniques.
This is the final day to work on your projects. We will have a critique and complete a self-reflection in the last 30 minutes of class. Make sure that your project is meeting all the requirements! Next project: Texture demonstration on scratch board. Subject can be anything that will show a detailed texture demonstration. ex: Animal, portrait, hands, shoe.... HAPPY SPRING BREAK! Extra credit opportunity: Bring in a photo that shows extreme detail to use for your next project no later than Friday. 10pts Bring in a signed AUM agreement for the arts walk by Thursday. 5pts Inner Monsters Students will demonstrate knowledge of watercolor techniques and texture through the creation of a watercolor mixed-media painting showing 4 different textures and 4 different watercolor techniques. Requirements: Must be some kind of a living creature silhouette. People, animals..... Must use 4 watercolor techniques Wash, Dry Brush, Wet on Wet, Masking , Salt, Color lifting, Plastic wrap texture Must use a limited color pallet. Must have a treated background. (salt, lifting, wet-on-wet, brush strokes, invented setting) Must show each of these types of textures: -Sharp -Bumpy -Soft -Smooth Critique Tuesday AUM agreements DUE DATE: Next Friday Next Project: Texture scratch board exploration Students will demonstrate an understanding of color theory and painting techniques through the creation of a mixed-media watercolor painting. Emphasis: Emphasis is defined as an area or object within the artwork that draws attention and becomes a focal point. Subordination is defined as minimizing or toning down other compositional elements in order to bring attention to the focal point. Mixed Media: Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work, but not a work of "multimedia art." Students will demonstrate an understanding of color theory and painting techniques through the creation of a mixed-media watercolor painting.

For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work, but not a work of "multimedia art." 7 Watercolor Techniques: Flat Wash Dry Brush Wet on Wet Masking Salt Color lifting Plastic wrap texture All students will be able to Investigate art concepts about color theory through the creation of six miniature works of art that address six different color schemes. Directions: For this project you will create 6 artist trading cards. Each one of the cards needs to represent a different color scheme. The color scheme that corresponds to each card needs to be labeled on the back to receive credit. 1. Monochromatic 2. Analogous 3. Warm 4. Cool 5. Primary 6. Complimentary Color theory review Galley Walk/ Kudos Each student will get 3 slips of paper. Everyone will do a gallery walk and select three works to give "Kudos" to. For each "Kudos" statement, student must write their name and why they selected that piece. Evaluate yourself using Rubric provided All students will be able to Investigate art concepts about color theory through the creation of six miniature works of art that address six different color schemes.
